From land survey to motorway building, LSS has the answer

From humble beginnings back in 1985, LSS has developed to become one of the leading software systems for land survey, terrain modelling and 3D visualisation. It continues to lead the way in many pioneering areas across several key industries. Written, supplied and supported by its authors, McCarthy Taylor Systems Ltd, LSS is continually being updated and all you pay for is annual maintenance which includes technical support and software updates. That’s it. No upfront sales charges! Support is even via a local telephone number. Available from £250 a copy, LSS represents superb value for money and, what’s more, reliability comes as standard.

At the heart of the LSS system is a powerful digital terrain modelling engine which just loves to number crunch. Whether the data is from a total station, GPS, DXF or coordinate file it will effortlessly generate a 3D model which can be queried, edited, designed through and used for reporting areas, volumes and sections. It will generate realistic 3D fly-throughs straight from the raw model without the need to export to a third party system and these 3D views can include terrestrial as well as draped aerial imagery.

The pages which follow describe the LSS system in some detail and attempt to place it into industry-specific contexts as well as offering our perspective on the kind of operations we feel it should be used for. If, having read through this document, you think LSS might be what you have been looking for then please give us a call. If you are UK-based then we can offer you a no-cost, no-obligation demonstration and will offer to use your own data if you have some. If you don’t yet have survey, modelling and design software or are on the look out for a replacement to your current system then please consider LSS. We can be contacted on 08456 444 244 Mon-Fri 9:00-5:30 (excluding Bank Holidays) or via our website at www.mccarthytaylor.com.

Keeping up

In recent years environmental and visual impact analyses have become vital stages in any planning application. In response, we have developed, in conjunction with leading Landscape Architect practices, additional functionality in the LSS software to conform with the rigours of the modern planning system.

Bids start at £250

£250 doesn’t go very far these days, unless you are in the market for survey and modelling software. In that case it will buy you a copy of LSS Solo fully supported and updated for 12 months. That’s less than £5 a week. Add to this the ability to upload data and code lists back to the instrument and you have a powerful data editing and management system. Independent from survey hardware manufacturers, LSS will interface with the latest survey equipment from Trimble, Leica, Topcon, Nikon and Pentax, plus a few systems no longer sold.

Volume Sales

Well known for its volume calculation capabilities, LSS continues to lead the way in this field, while becoming the system of choice across a uniquely broad spectrum of businesses including land survey, quarrying and mining, waste management, land reclamation, civil engineering, construction, accident investigation, landscape architecture, environmental planning and many more. Just imagine the number of different disciplines required to generate this view, land surveyors, geologists, engineers, planners and landscape architects to name but a few. LSS has something to offer all these disciplines. Many of our users can’t imagine being without LSS, which is why we always say that our best sales force is our existing users. Recommendation comes high on the list of why people choose LSS. If you don’t yet know an LSS user, let us put you in touch with one.
