A pioneer in the use of GIS and 3D modelling for archaeological investigation, Dr Mark Gillings of the School of Archaeological Studies at the University of Leicester has used LSS to help him interpret and reconstruct a wide range of ancient settlements and structures. He employs, where possible, non-destructive survey techniques and generates highly detailed 3D models with the aim of producing dynamic, interactive virtual models of these important historic sites.
